My daughter is 7 years old ..... but lately she has been acting and talking like she is 5. I mean toddler gibberish, high voices, EXTREME figity....

Saw the doctor today and he actually told me that her being small (she is 42 pounds and 42 inches tall) is a good thing for her! NOT becasue she is better able to do gymnastics, etc. but becasue she IS acting so much more immature and her small size makes people thnk that she really is 5!

I know that this is a blessing for her, but It breaks my heart and I hope that we cna figure out what is triggering her to act this way (there is some kind of outside stimulus triggering her and her brain is not able to process it and help her react in an age appropriate manner.)

I talk about this here becsue normally when I mention it to someone else I hear:

"Oh all kids do that"
"It's just a phase"
"She is only a child (then include wrong age)"

FAS may be visible but it is a disability!

You don't it see it, you can't hear it or smell it, but fetal exposure to alcohol (even after birth) DOES cause brain damage! AKA Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) ...... or one of its many forms (Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE), Alcohol Related Neoroligical Disorders (ARND) ~ ~ ~ the severity of any of these can be mild to severe.

Just becasue you do nto see a disability, or it is not severe 100% of the time does not mean it does not exist .....................
